Bugs

Having no fear of bugs inspired this artist to learn more about them for a sculpture class she teaches in Demarest, NJ called Bugs and Butterflies. These hanging sculptures are big bugs (3 feet by 3 feet) resembling a ladybug, cicada and bumble bee. All of the bugs start life as a tomato cage, which supports wings, legs, a face, and antennae. The components are weatherproof, including found objects and construction materials. The see-thru shapes evoke the elusive quality of bugs and hang high up in trees where they can’t threaten those who are easily scared by such things.
